World museums: The Museum of civilisations from Europe and the Mediterranean opens in Marseille

The new museum – Museum of civilisations from Europe and the Mediterranean was opened in Marseille (France). June 7, 2013 it will be open for visitors.

The new building of the museum is built in the Old Port at the walls of the Saint-Jean Fort of the XII century. At thirty thousand square meters are housed unique items - from irrigation tools of ancient Egypt to the model of the ship of Vasco da Gama. The traditional culture of the peoples of ancient Egypt, Palestine, Phoenicia and Ancient Greece is widely presented. Many of the achievements of ancient civilizations have formed the basis of modern European culture.
