3 June 2013

From May 29 to June 1, 2013 in Baku (Azerbaijan) was held the Second World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue under the motto “Living together in peace in a multicultural world”.

During the forum was held the first meeting of ministers of culture. It was attended by the heads of departments of culture and tourism of 40 countries. They discussed the role of these sectors in shaping the dialogue and trust in the world.

The purpose of the meeting was to prepare for a regular forum and the adoption of the Action Plan on Intercultural Dialogue, said the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfac Garaev.

The head of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, High Representative of the UN Secretary General Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser thanked the government of Azerbaijan for organizing the forum, which, in his opinion, will strengthen trust between the different cultures.

Culture and tourism create exceptional conditions for informing people, broadening their horizons, he said.

The development of intercultural dialogue will make an important contribution to peace and stability in the world, said Al-Nasser.

The next World Forum on Intercultural dialogue will be held in Baku in 2015.
