29 July 2013

July 29, 2013 in the Upper Garden of the Museum Reserve “Peterhof” is opening the exhibition “Peterhof. The XX century: time, people, events”, which features more than 70 photographs, covering the period from the 1920s to the end of the XX century, made both amateur and professional photographers.

This exhibition is the story of people who have come to the parks of Peterhof to have rest, to take pictures against the backdrop of famous fountains, admire the beauty of the aquatic extravaganza.

At the pre-war photographs the Peterhof Park is a place not only for staying - through the alleys of the Lower Park the columns of protesters, holding demonstrations of athletes training for civil defense, various competitions are passing. In the Summer Theater are held performances and lectures. The park has a café and a mobile library.

In winter people go skiing in Finnish sleigh.

Along with the Peterhof traditional celebrations of opening and closing of fountains, are held many national celebrations, including the International Youth Day, the feast of the Soviet Air Force.

In early post-war photographs the alleys of the park are little crowded, but over time, the park is filled with ornate visitors, and among them there are the guests of the Soviet republics and foreign tourists. Over the years, the favorite place of photographing is not changed – that is against the backdrop of the Grand Palace, and the Cascade Fountain “Samson”.
