Museums of Russia: The Military Museum of the Karelian Isthmus opens in Vyborg

The Military Museum of the Karelian Isthmus opens at the XVII century building of Vyborg on July 26, 2013.

The first exhibition of new museum will be "Karelian Isthmus. The 1939-1944 Years War" exhibition. The exhibition tells the story of 1939-1940 and 1941-1944 years battles on the Karelian Isthmus. Displayed are the findings from the field battles, the Red Army and the Finnish Army uniforms, the soldiers and commanders personal belongings, pictures, posters, leaflets, newspapers and books from the private collections of the history of military campaigns researchers.

"The presented collection of books, newspapers and leaflets is the best in Russia, if not in the entire world. Some of the exhibits are unique and have no analogues "- say the organizers of the exhibition.

Gradually, the exposure will be changing; the thematic mini-exhibitions organization is preplanned.

In the nearest future the organization expects to receive a plot of land in the village of Petrovka near Vyborg and move into a new building - then the exposure will be much bigger, and what is more, the layout of the famous Mannerheim Line reconstruction is in plans.
