Central City Library named after Arcady Gaidar in Moscow has launched a new project. There are more than 65,000 electronic editions are offered for the readers’ choice that could be download on their mobile devices for free.

"The reader gets an individual number and a password allowing to select the desired books and publications and to check them out of an electronic library through the mobile device for a certain period of time. Offered e-books have proper illustrations, numbering and the font - said in a statement. The library staff is able to see the ordered books and to keep statistics of orders. So, copyright and related rights are not violated, and the library acts as an intermediary between the copyright owner and the borrower of the texts”.

The readers who do not have their own electronic devices may take these for use in the library.

The adult readers could join a family reading section and also to get free access to e-books.

In 2011 the Moscow Authorities has developed a special program "Culture of Moscow 2012-2016", which allowed the implementation of a new free library service - the e-reading on mobile devices.
