Electronic resources: A new electronic product 'Patriotic War of 1812 and the Komi land. Archival documents. Publications"

On July 15, 2013 the National Library of Komi Republic has received the Federal Service’s for Intellectual Property of the Russian Federation certificate of authorship of “The Patriotic War of 1812 and the Komi Land. Archival Documents. Publications" database with state registration number 2013620755.

New electronic product “The Patriotic War of 1812 and the Komi Land. Archival Documents. Publications" has a very special value. For the first time one volume combines more than 100 historical documents reflecting the Komi people's participation in the war of 1812, which have never been published before. Also, the database contains the full texts of archival and published documents witnessing the presence of the French Army prisoners of war in Komi Region, as well as the participation of the citizens of the Komi Region in the war of 1812. Thus, these documents are of a great value for the regional dimension of national history study.

An electronic resource consists of 7 sections: "Official Documents", "The War of 1812-1815", "Prisoners of War", "War in Art", "The Memories of the War of 1812", "Bibliography", "About Us." The resource contains a general reference and bibliographic information about the Patriotic War of 1812 and the foreign campaigns of the Russian army in 1813-1815, and the reviewing the sections’ themes articles. In addition, a number of documents contain information about the preparation and holding the festivities on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812.

Building the informational electronic resource dedicated to the participation of Komi people in the Patriotic War of 1812 is implemented in the framework of celebration of the 200 years anniversary of the victory in War of 1812. The National Library staff that has compiled resource’s database did a remarkable job identifying the documents in the National Archives of the Republic of Komi, the State Archive of the Vologda region, the Russian State Historical Archive and digitizing discovered materials.

The resource is accessible to a wide range of users and in great demand as a reliable source for the teachers, museum and library workers, studying homeland history students, local historians and all concerned with native history.
