Society and Church: The exhibition of contemporary icons opened in Tsaritsyno

July 12 in the Grand Palace of the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve opened the exhibition “Gospel of Beauty” which features modern icons and church embroidery (more than 100 exhibits).

The opening of the exhibition is timed to the church celebration in memory of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. The icons and embroidery are made by students and teachers of Moscow icon painting schools: the Faculty of Arts of the Orthodox Church Humanitarian University of St. Tikhon, the Orthodox Humanitarian University “Co-operation”, the Alypy Pechersky Icon painting school and others. 

A feature of this exhibition is that the presented icons and church embroidery made ​​keeping all the old traditions and canons, in compliance with authentic technology. When writing the images teachers and students turned to different eras and schools of ancient and Byzantine iconography, made lists of known miracle-working icons stored in Russian museums.

As part of the exhibition “Gospel of Beauty”, its organizers will hold 14 master classes of icon painting letter and personal facial embroidery, as well as a gilding technique will be also demonstrated.
