Information technology: MARIS and Orange to develop digital navigation

The French provider of IT services Orange Business Services and the Dutch company MARIS, specialized in technology for navigation, has completed an agreement to provide electronic cards ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display Information Systems) and other digital services directly for the navigation through the world’s largest MPLS-network Orange.

Based on the most current cartographic information and decision Current At Sea, the partnership of Orange and MARIS most fully reveals the potential of an integrated digital navigation and control of marine vessels.

The delivery of cards on the board will be held using solutions of provider Current At Sea. It provides voice and video communication Court, a secure connection to the corporate services at speeds up to 8 Mbit / s. The communication takes place via a satellite system Inmarsat.

The ships will also get the actual data from the system MARIS Voyage Decision Support, which gives the weather forecast for the route of the ship, and other information necessary for the safe and optimal cost and time of the route.

According to the schedule drawn up by the International Maritime Organization, by 2018, all vessels must be equipped with ECDIS system, and on all new ships it will be installed immediately.
