World culture: A new form of ancient writing discovered in China

In east China’s Province Zhejiang, archaeologists have discovered a new form of primitive ancient literature, the age of which has about 5000 years.

According to the statement of archaeologists, carved in stone products and pottery, inscriptions are 1,400 years older than previously known monuments of the Chinese writing.

According to Professor of the Faculty of Archaeology and Museology of the Peking University, Li Botsyan, the characters are not alone, they make complete sentences. They allow shed light on the origin of Chinese characters and the language in general, the expert said.

Previously, the most ancient Chinese writing samples considered being “oracle inscriptions” - signs on bones and tortoise shells of other animals - the most ancient of them belong to the XVI century BC.
