Museums: The exhibition “Time of Troubles in Russia in the XVI-XVII century” to be open at the Orenburg Governor Historical and Local Lore Museum

July 9 at the Orenburg Governor Historical and Local Lore Museum will be open the National traveling exhibition “Time of Troubles in Russia in the XVI-XVII century”.

The exhibition is timed to the 400th anniversary of the end of the Time of Troubles in Russia and the accession to the Russian throne of the Romanov dynasty. The exhibition will take place simultaneously in 40 major cities across the country.

The exhibition tells of the key stages of the Time of Troubles - from the era immediately after the death of Ivan the Terrible to fully recover from Time of Troubles and events to strengthen the Russian state in the XVII century.

The exhibition will feature a unique collection of copies of historical documents, prints, paintings and other images devoted to the period of the Time of Troubles in Russia. The originals of these documents are kept in the museums of the Federal Archival Agency, first of all - the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts. Of particular interest are documents on the formation of the militia led by Minin and Pozharsky in Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl, about taking the Kremlin.
