Russian museums: The I Regional Festival “Museums in the XXI century” in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

From August 30 to September 1, 2013 in the premises of the Sakhalin Regional Museum is held the first regional festival “Museums in the XXI century”. It is dedicated to the Year of the museums in the Russian Federation.

The festival is organized by the Association of museums of the Sakhalin region with the support of the Sakhalin Oblast and the Ministry of culture of the area. The first regional competition “Museum Project” is held within the framework of the festival.

Municipal museums are taking part in three categories: “The exhibition project” (discussed projects implemented from 2008 to 2013), “Unique Collection” (search, acquisition of collections, implemented by the museum itself, and in partnership with other agencies in the period from 2008 to 2012), “The Museum and the children” (education programs for 2008-2013).

At the festival it will be determined the contender for the title of “Best Small Museum of the Sakhalin Region – 2013”. It will have to score the amount of the highest points in all three categories. School museums are taking part in a special “Best School Museum of the Sakhalin region – 2013”.

During the festival, residents and visitors of the Sakhalin region are offered tours, lectures and classes. The visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the many museums in the Sakhalin region.
