Internet resources: The cartographic service Google maps has added new city maps updating the existing

Internet Company Google has added to the cartographic service Google Maps the maps of 50 new Russian cities and has updated about 200 existing, applying on them more detailed information about the roads and pedestrian paths, according to the company blog developer Google Maps Kirill Levin.

The updated maps of Russia have detailed information on the pedestrian paths in parks and historic sites in the territory, as well as a clearly marked place of heightened interest of visitors. For example, the territory of the Moscow State University is now available in Google Maps with pedestrian paths, buildings and monuments.  

Google has also improved the designation of road routes in Russian cities by displaying data on one-way streets restrictions on turns and priority roads. If the user notices an inaccuracy in Google Maps, it can report it to developers of the service via the “Report a problem”.

The updated maps of Russia – is a part of the project Ground Truth, which allows the company speed up the update of maps, provide a more accurate topographic data based on the analysis and verification of information from local residents. This update affects the largest cities of Russia, including Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and others.
