Information technology and libraries: The American University of Nigeria extends its library holdings through e-books

The American University of Nigeria founded in 2003, has announced plans to expand the library collection through e-books. This year, the university has focused on the program “mobile library”.

The program, launched in autumn 2013, provides for the use of mobile library applications, and better organization of library space: bulky apparatus are replaced by a much more compact and less power consuming mobile equipment. The main objective of the program is to provide a continuous around the clock access to the Library from anywhere in the world. The program is accompanied by a significant increase in the level of uptake of electronic documents.
