History and culture: The exhibition “Solovki: Spiritual image of Russian history” in Saint-Petersburg
The exhibition “Solovki: Spiritual image of Russian history” will open on August 20, 2013 in the small hall of the exhibition center of the Saint-Petersburg Union of Artists.
The exhibition is held as part of the project “The holy places”, and is organized by the Center for the Arts in Saint-Petersburg. The collection “Solovki: Spiritual image of Russian history” includes 70 paintings and drawings by distinguished Russian artists created during a trip to the island in summer of 2013.
The project “The holy places” exists for more than 10 years. Its main aim is to create beautiful collections with views of historically significant lands of Russia, thus attracting the attention of the public.
The results of these trips were paintings, many of which enriched the collections of museums of these regions, as well as private collections in Russia and abroad.
