History and culture: The exhibition of periodicals of the XIX century “Newspaper verse” in Yekaterinburg

The Museum “Literary Life of the Urals of the XIX century” (Yekaterinburg) from August 17 to December 15, 2013 is held the exhibition “Newspaper verse. The Yekaterinburg periodicals of the XIX century”. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the State Archives of the Sverdlovsk region.

Visitors can also see the first periodicals that appeared in the city in the middle of the XIX century. In 1868 it was released another manuscript journal of the Ural Mining School called “Uralets”. There were released seven issues. The information about these first experiments is preserved only in the memories of contemporaries. In 1873, Yekaterinburg residents for the first time got a real, published in the printing house, magazine. It was research and was called “Notes of the Ural Society of Naturalists”.

Starting from the first hand-written tests of the second half of the XIX century, up to 1917 in Yekaterinburg was released 47 newspapers and 47 magazines of different directions. On their pages were often printed poems as topical and lyrical. All of these publications can be seen at the exhibition.
