Society and culture: The Saint-Petersburg International Cultural Forum to be one of the central events of this year

The Saint-Petersburg International Cultural Forum has received special attention of the Government of Russia. The second Saint-Petersburg International Cultural Forum will be one of the central events of the year; the city will host about 30 events.

The First Cultural Forum was held in Saint-Petersburg last year and was organized on the initiative of the cultural community and was supported by the governor of the city of Saint-Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko. This urban event, as well as many Petersburg cultural projects went beyond the scope of the proposed and this year has received the international status.

July 30, 2013 was signed a decree of the government of the Russian Federation for the preparation and holding of the Second International Cultural Forum in Saint-Petersburg.

The workshop where the forum was discussed took place on August 2 at the Government House of Russia in Moscow. The main topic of forum – is the Year of Culture in Russia in 2014. The forum will be held in the following areas: theater, visual arts, architecture, music, choreography, film, cultural management, circus and street theater. It was also decided to hold a cultural forum in early December 2013.  

Among the expected events in December is the presentation of Biennale “Manifesto” “The city as an exhibition space” at the State Hermitage Museum. During the forum Nobel Prize winners in literature read open lectures to residents and visitors alike. The pre-screening of the film of Valeri Todorovski “Ladoga” will take place. The Pushkin House will host the conference “Russian canon”, which will consider the issues of translation of Russian literature into the languages ​​of the world.
