Russian museums: The exhibition to the 310th anniversary of the creation of the Military-Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps to be held in Saint-Petersburg

The Historical and documentary exhibition to the 310th anniversary of the establishment of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps will be open in Saint-Petersburg on August 29, 2013.

On this day, the oldest military museum of Russia celebrates its birthday. The Military-Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps – is of the same age in Saint-Petersburg. In 1703, under the personal direction of Peter I on the territory of the fortress was built a special storeroom to keep ancient artillery. Its opening was preceded by a gathering of the exhibits in the Russian Empire – “memorable” and “curious” weapon.

The exhibition, dedicated to the anniversary of the museum, will feature rare archival documents, photographs, prints, telling about more than 300-year history of one of the largest military-historical museums in the world, which has become the national pride of Russia.
