History of Russia: The exhibition to the 130th anniversary of the first social-democratic Marxist organization of Russia opened in Saint-Petersburg

September 26, 2013 in the New building of the National Library of Russia (Saint-Petersburg) took place the grand opening of the exhibition “From the Group “Emancipation of Labour” to the Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party”, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the first social-democratic Marxist organization in Russia.

The exhibition features unique hand-written documents, books, posters, periodicals reflecting the evolution of the Russian democratic thought and allow tracing the history of the liberation movement in our country. The exhibition is supplemented by a variety of illustrative materials and sculpture.

The exposition is presented at the international conference “From the Group “Emancipation of Labour” to the Russian Social-Democratic Labour Party”. By their organization the Plekhanov House of NLR opens a series of four conferences and exhibitions under the title “”The philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways, but the point is to change it”: the problems of social development and social and political movements at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries”.
