History of Russia: The conference, dedicated to the General Skobelev, held in Ryazan

In Ryazan, on September 27-28, 2013 is held the International scientific conference dedicated to the outstanding Russian military commander, a participant of many wars in the second half of the XIX century, liberator of Bulgaria, General of Infantry Mikhail Skobelev.

The conference “M. D. Skobelev: Past and Present” (to the 170th anniversary of his birth)” is prepared by the forces of the Government of the Ryazan region, the Sergei Yesenin Ryazan State University, the Maxim Gorky Ryazan Regional Universal Library, the Ryazan Historical and Architectural Museum and Historical Society of Ryazan. The event is held at the S. A. Yesenin Ryazan State University and the Museum-Reserve “Memorial complex of M. D. Skobelev”, located in the Alexander Nevsky district of the Ryazan region, where the former estate of the Skobelevs is buried in the family vault an outstanding the Russian commander. The conference will review the pages of his biography, historical events, in which Skobelev was involved, as well as the conservation of historical memory.
