From 19 September 2013 the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art hosted the exhibition “Treasures of the Russian style”.

This is a joint project of the VMDPNI and the State art-historical and literary museum “Abramtzevo”.

For the first time two famous museums combined their collections made in Russian style to showcase the diversity of Abramtsevsky artistic circle in the field of arts and crafts and folk art.

The Abramtsev circle was formed in the second half of the XIX century in the estate “Abramtzevo”, owned by a famous patron Savva Mamontov, and the famous names of famous artists such as Valentin Serov, Konstantin Korovin, I. Repin, V. M. Vasnetsov, M. A. Vrubel, E. D. Polenov, M. V. Nesterov. At the same time with a circle in the estate was organized workshop of wood carving, where by sketches of famous artists the talented artists created works of decorative and religious art.

The exhibition “Treasures of the Russian style” features more than 100 works of art. This is a piece of furniture, watercolor designs and sketches of furniture items of Abramtsevo manor church, reference samples of ceramics of Russian Art Nouveau.

The sensation of the exhibition – Royal gates - a replica of the famous Royal gates of the XVI century from the church of St. Nicholas in Ishna near Rostov the Great. The last time they were shown at the National Handicraft Exhibition in Saint-Petersburg in 1913. After 1917, the Royal gates were gone. For a long time, their whereabouts were unknown. And now, after a big work of conservators the Royal gates again appeared before the public.
