Russian regions: Chelyabinsk has become the venue for the first five years of a photo exhibition of the Reuters agency

The Chelyabinsk State museum exhibition hosted the exhibition of the best photos taken by news agency Reuters correspondents in recent years.

The exhibition, entitled “Reuters. Our world now” is organized as part of the annual festival “Photofest”. Its official opening on September 26 will be the main event of the festival. Reuters has provided Chelyabinsk 100 reportage photos taken since the early 2000s in different parts of the globe. The subject is the widest: war and terrorism, politics, disasters, sports.

The organizer of the exhibition, the chairman of the Chelyabinsk regional branch of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia Vladimir Bogdanovsky stressed that the agency has not conducted Reuters exhibitions since 2008.

“The idea of ​​holding such an exhibition was born when we realized that it is necessary to give a new impetus to the development of reportorial photos in Chelyabinsk - added Bogdanovsky. - During the “Photofest” we are opening an exhibition of Chelyabinsk photojournalists “Objective life”. On the one hand, it is risky to exhibit next to Reuters. On the other hand - some of our authors withstand this neighborhood”.

“Photofest 2013” will be held from 26 to 29 September 2013 in Chelyabinsk at the recreation center “Science”. The festival includes more than 30 solo and thematic exhibitions, workshops and creative meetings, including the chief editor of Reuters Gregory Ducor.
