Russian regions: The exhibition “Destination – Karelia” in Moscow

September 21, 2013 in Moscow at the Cultural Center ZIL opens an exhibition of photography and multimedia “Destination – Karelia”.

The exhibition is held under the project “Euroregion of Karelia: Museum hypertext” with the support of cross-border cooperation “Karelia”.

The exhibition “Destination – Karelia” - is the result of the travel through Euroregion “Karelia” of two photographers - Anastasia Khoroshilova from Russia and Jaakko Heikkilä from Finland. The object of the attention of photographers of Karelia is the diversity of its historical and ethnographic, natural, geographical, social and cultural aspects.

The genre of the project is artistic and anthropological research. The artists consider Karelia as a unique space which, on the one hand, is divided by the state border between Russia and Finland, episodes of social, military and economic history, on the other - this space has many features in common, which let talk about the special phenomenon, which is called the “Euroregion of Karelia”.
