September 18, 2013 Google has announced the launch of a Russian service “Scheme of Buildings”. The service allows you view on Google maps floor plans of public buildings. These buildings include railway stations, airports, shopping centers and other facilities.

The plans are seen in the web versions of maps and applications for Android and iOS. In order to see them, you need to find the right building on the map and zoom in until the scheme appears.

Now Google Maps provides plans of 27 buildings in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. The list consists primarily of shopping centers and hypermarkets, but it includes the airport “Pulkovo”.

If the user is viewing the plan from inside the building, its location is shown in the diagram with a blue dot. You can run routes inside the building.

Users can top up the base by downloading a floor plan using this link. The plan will be on the cards after verification.

The service “Schemes of buildings” was launched by Google in 2011. Now it operates in 17 countries. In determining the user’s location inside a building is used information from networks of Wi-Fi.
