To the 400th anniversary of the Romanovs: Exhibition “The House of Romanov in the collections of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve”

September 13, 2013 in the exhibition halls of the Novgorod Museum Reserve is opening the exhibition “The House of Romanov in the collection of the Novgorod Museum Reserve. To the 400th anniversary of the dynasty”. The exhibition features more than one hundred items, one way or another connected with the House of the Romanovs: the portraits of monarchs, the documents that belonged to members of the dynasty, dishes of the imperial palaces, medals and tokens on various events in the life of the august family, books and memorabilia, released on the occasion of the coronation of the emperors and the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty.

The exhibition for the first time features about four dozen books from their own libraries of thirteen members of the Romanov family, kept in the scientific library of the Novgorod Museum. First of all, this is the book of the private libraries of Alexander III and the last Emperor of the Russian Empire Nicholas II, the books with bookplates of grand dukes - Andrei Vladimirovich, Konstantin Nikolaevich and Mikhail Nikolayevich, Konstantin Roerich and his wife Elizabeth Mavrikievna (1865-1927), a book with a bookplate-stamp from the library of Princess Elena Bonner of Saxe-Altenburg. Book marks indicate the location of the libraries - Gatchina and marble palaces, the Strelna Palace, the collection of books which are closely connected with the name of Grand Duke Dmitry Konstantinovich (1860-1919).
