Internet and society: Possible creation of a single website to prevent cyber threats

The Federation Council and the Ministry of Mass Communications are discussing the creation of a single public website that will bring together all the recommendations on protection against cyber threats. This was announced at a press conference by a member of the Federation Council, Ruslan Gattarov, who added that the citizens should also have an opportunity to "download" the anti-virus software fro, the resource.

According to Gattarov, he liked the idea realized in South Korea: under the support of the government there were created several websites where users can learn how to protect themselves online, and can also download the necessary software.

"The public website is needed to protect users from downloading infected software," said R. Gattarov. The project will be implemented with the contribution of the Russian Association of Electronic Communications and other organizations of the Internet industry.

The senator reminded that the Federation Council, in conjunction with the Internet experts, is working on a strategy of the national cybersecurity, that will also focus on improving the computer literacy of citizens and protection of businesses and individuals from cyber threats.
