World Opera Lab is the first to create virtual opera performances featuring artists that are in different countries. It was launched in the Danish city of Struere (Jutland). The event was preceded by a three-day international conference where experts from many countries reviewed the technical facilities of bringing together artists from different continents in the joint digital performance in real time.

World Opera Lab is the first laboratory in the world working on the problem of high-quality dynamic interaction between the artists who are at a considerable distance from each other. It will bring together via Internet researchers from New York , Stanford University , Montreal, Leipzig , Stockholm , Tromsø , Newcastle and other centers.

"For centuries, the art of opera has been associated with a particular venue, with a physical stage, says a press release of the conference. - Digital technology has opened up new opportunities in front of this centuries-old art. The first step towards a new era was the broadcast of performances from one stage to the audience around the world. Now the stage will be a truly global one, and soloists will be performing their parts from different continents."
