Internet and culture: A single portal about Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy started working on the eve of the 185th anniversary of his birth

A single portal of Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy with a complete collection of his works started working on the eve of 185th birth anniversary of the great Russian writer.  «The Whole Tolstoy in one click» was created jointly by the State museum of L. N. Tolstoy Museum-Estate "Yasnaya Polyana" and the company to develop technologies OCR ABBYY Russia.

The portal includes the first results of crowdsourcing project "The whole Tolstoy in one click", which  in June 2013 had the start of work on the creation of an electronic version of the full and free digital archive of the writer.

"The web site presents scientifically evaluated information about the life and work of the writer. Many of the materials are published for the first time: photos, recordings with a voice of Tolstoy and his captured footage. Sections of the portal show a map of places where there was a writer, as well as places of his works", - said at a presentation of the project great-great-granddaughter of classic Thekla Nikitichna Tolstaya - Head of Department of the State Museum of L. N. Tolstoy.

The project is designed to fill the portal for about a year. So to download, for example, the most extensive work of Tolstoy's "War and Peace" with multiple endings, will be possible by next September. Creative section includes the 90-volume collected works. The first three volumes, covering his childhood, adolescence, and works up to 1856 are already available.

The texts are published in electronic formats PDF, as well as the more popular mobile devices and e-book fb2 and ePub. The availability of products in different formats for different devices will allow young readers join the works of Leo Tolstoy, says CEO Gregory ABBY Lipich.
