Memorable dates of Russia: An inter-museum project dedicated to the 195th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Turgenev in Moscow

September 3, 2013 at the State Pushkin Museum (Moscow) is opening the exhibition "Among the people close to me... and others..." - the largest inter-museum project in recent years, dedicated to the 195th anniversary of the birth of I. S. Turgenev .

Another memorable date of the year - September 3. Exactly 130 years ago, in 1883, the writer died.

The exhibition presents 18 state museums, archives and libraries in Russia, keepers of the most famous "Turgenev's" collections of Russia. Private collectors and artists participate in hte exhibition.

The exhibition connects the fate and the literary heritage and Turgenev. In the three rooms are themed complexes where through the key works of the writer are revealed the most important "subjects" of his personal and creative life. The actual geographical locations ( country, city, provincial estates) marked by the writer stay there, " superimposed" on the places in which Turgenev's actions take place. The contemporaries of the writer stand in a row with his literary characters. Recreating the circle of Turgenev, the exhibition not only reconstructs his life's numerous and creative communication, but recreates an entire cultural era Russia and Europe of the XIX century.

Artistic and imaginative solution the exposure allows most advantageous  provide each exhibit. Among the most valuable - the personal belongings of the writer and members of his entourage, autographs , manuscripts, portraits , rare daguerreotypes and photographs, and documentary evidence relating to the name of Turgenev.

Much of the exhibited the audience will see for the first time.
