29 October 2013

October 29, 2013 in the new building of the Tula State Museum of Weapons opens the exhibition “Man and weapons: a feat in the name of life”.

The exhibition is prepared in cooperation with the Association “Local History and Art Museum”.

The exhibition thematically brings together 6 centuries of the glory of Russian arms and feats of Russian soldiers from the Battle of Kulikovo. The exhibition features more than 100 samples of firearms and bladed weapons of the XVIII-XX centuries from the Tula State Museum of Weapons, as well as 20 paintings and 17 graphic works - and battle-portraiture of Russian artists of the XX century - from the funds of the Association “Local History and Art Museum”. Among the painted works are 8 paintings from the cycle “Kulikovo Field” by the famous artist I. S. Glazunov.

The painting illustrates the famous battle on the fields of the glory of Russia, and the weapons, in their turn, embody a feat not only of those who fought with it in the hands, but also of those who designed and made it.
