Libraries and Education: "Mikhailovskoe 2013" VII All-Russian Forum of School Librarians in the Pskov Region

From October 28 to November 1, 2013, at the Pushkin Hills State National Park and Museum of A. S. Pushkin will be held the "Mikhailovskoe 2013" VII All-Russian Forum of School Librarians.

The Forum’s purpose is the integration of inner and intellectual resources for the development of the Russian school libraries as the facilitators for the upbringing, education and quality of life of children and youth.

Forum is the major event of "School Library on the Agenda!" Russian School Libraries Month that is being held at the framework of the International School Library Month 2013, announced by the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL).

The Forum program includes work sections, round tables, library school and workshops on the topical issues of school libraries development: the actions in the context of the Federal Law "On Education in the Russian Federation" and the development of the conditions of the Federal State Educational Standards; the development of mechanisms for the participation of specialists of school libraries in the implementation of the National Strategy of Action for Children for 2012-2017; the issues of information and mental security for children; cognitive mission of the school library; the creation of a modern system of continuous education of teaching librarians; modern technologies of fixed and educational assets of school library; international cooperation development, etc. Book and media products for school libraries customary exhibitions, innovations sites and discussion spots will be working as well.

The Forum participants will also discuss the arrangements of the 43rd Annual International Conference IASL and the 18th International Research Forum on School Librarianship, which for the first time will be held in Moscow from 25th to 29th of August 2014.

The development of the "Library as a Cognitive Resource of Innovative Educational Process at School" theme will take place in the scope of this forum by way of the special course.
