Museums of Russia: Exhibition “Russian art of the XVIII-XX centuries”, timed to the 55th anniversary of the State Art Museum of the Altai Krai, in Barnaul

October 24, 2013 the State Art Museum of the Altai Krai (Barnaul) opens the exhibition of the museum collections “Russian art of the XVIII-XX centuries”. The exhibition is timed to the 55th anniversary of the museum, which will be held in December this year. The advantage of the exposition is not only names of famous artists, but also the quality of many works of art that can decorate the largest museum collections of the country.

Among the exhibits are works of the XVIII – early XX century, landscapes of artists-itinerants I. I. Shishkin, A. K. Savrasov, M. K. Klodt and N. N. Dubovsky, portraits of S. A. Korovin, K. E. Makovsky and I. K. Makarov.

The art of abroad of the XIX – XX centuries is presented by works of N. K. Roerich, P. V. Kuznetsov, N. P. Khimona and V. D. Vuchicivich-Sibirsky. The high artistic level differ landscapes of masters of the Union of Russian artists P. I. Petrovichev, M. K. Aladjakova.

The section of graphics first presents the audience the large genre painting of V. M. Vasnetsov “Peasants Children” (1869). In addition, the exposition includes the sculpture of famous masters of the XIX century M. M. Antokolsky and E. A. Lancere, as well as arts and crafts of the most famous Russian porcelain factories.

The State Art Museum of the Altai Krai assembled its collection of Russian classical art thanks to the dedicated work of many wonderful people, at different times worked there. The archival materials, included to the exposition, will tell about the formation of the museum.
