Information technology and society: Videoconferencing to become the main way for business communication by 2016

Videoconferencing is becoming increasingly popular in the business environment around the world. This is according to a survey conducted by research company Redshift Research and IT-company Polycom among business leaders from 12 countries, including Russia. 

“Currently, 76% of respondents use video tools at work, and 56% of them participate in a videoconferencing at least once a week - the materials of the study say. - In the opinion of 96% of senior and middle management, videoconferencing allows remote collaboration, smooth cultural differences, as well as increase the productivity”.

According to the survey, videoconferencing takes the third place in the ranking of means of business communication, favored by 47% of respondents, the other more likely use e-mail and voice conferencing. In this case, 52% of respondents believe that over the next three years, video-conferencing will be their primary means of business communication. The study showed that in Brazil, India and Singapore are the most popular videoconferencing: more than two-thirds of respondents from these countries use this means of communication, at least once a week.

“In Russia, as in other countries, the videoconferencing today is in third place in the ranking of means of business communication, while the favorite means of communication is by far the voice conferencing. However, according to a study by 2016 the videoconferencing will be the main method of business communication”, - noted in the company Polycom. 44% of respondents in Russia is carried out or are willing to spend hangout for contract conclusion.
