World culture: The exhibition “The French impressionists and their era” in Kazan

October 11, 2013 at the Exhibition center “Hermitage-Kazan” opens the exhibition “The French Impressionists and their era”. The exposition, with over one hundred and fifty works from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum, is the first exhibition of the Impressionists of such a high level in Russia. Along with world-famous masterpieces of painting is presented a French printed graphics of the last third of the XIX century, as well as decorative and applied arts of the modern era, demonstrating a surprising variety of artistic events of the second half of the XIX century in France.

The main section of the extensive exposure - painting – is represented by the works of various artists from Gustave Boulanger to Henri Matisse.

The culmination of the Hermitage exhibition is justified paintings of K. Monet, O. Renoir, P. Cezanne, C. Pissarro, A. Sisley and P. Signac.

Along with the canvases of Monet are three paintings, executed in primary heyday of Impressionism (1876-77), and they are worthy of close attention, the authors of these works - Paul Cezanne and Renoir.

Impressionists’ paintings in the exhibition is complemented by works of the highlights of the French prints last third of the XIX century, when it was experiencing extremely high growth. This kind of art is presented with masterpieces and great names - A. Toulouse -Lautrec, F. Vallotton and A. Mucha. Because of the Hermitage has a great selection of items of applied art, the exhibition includes the world-famous glass samples of Galle and Lalique, porcelain, tapestries, which are an important part of the era shaped Impressionism, which is associated with the birth of Art Nouveau.
