History and culture: Exhibition “Cases and belongings. Daniil Kharms and his circle” in Saint-Petersburg

October 8, 2013 at the Museum of Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Saint-Petersburg) is opening the exhibition “Cases and belongings. Daniil Kharms and his circle.

The exhibition is devoted to one of the greatest writers of the XX century, the poet, the founder of existential absurd prose - Daniil Kharms, who belonged to a union OBERIU (1927-1930).

The exhibition first presented personal belongings of D. Harms, previously unpublished manuscripts and books from his library, photos, as well as original material relating to the life and works of writers of his circle - Alexander Vvedensky, Nicholas Oleinikov, Jacob Druskin, Constantine Vaginov and etc. Among the exhibits, each of which has its own unique history in connection with the biography of Harms and his friends, - is the legendary suitcase belonging to D. Kharms, which in the blockade winter of 1942 by Y. Druskin were saved numerous manuscripts of the poet, belonged to D. Kharms radio “Telefunken” of 1938 release, books and music sheet with his marginalia, a number of important works of the autographs of D. Kharms and his literary colleagues, including autograph “Gray notebook” by  Vvedensky and unpublished texts by K. Vaginov, N. Oleinikov and others. The exhibition is created primarily on the basis of private collections. A significant number of artifacts are owned by the publishing house “Vita Nova”, which is the main partner of the exhibition.
