Society and culture: Exhibition of posters “Symbols of Time” in Saint-Petersburg

The Museum of Printing (St. Petersburg) hosts the exhibition “Symbols of Time”. This exhibition is dedicated to works by Leningrad artists Mikhail Abramovich Gordon, timed to the 95th anniversary of the master.

M. A. Gordon (1918-2003) is a Soviet art poster artist, graphic artist, member of the Leningrad artists group “Fighting Pencil”, an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, a member of the Artists’ Union and the Union of Journalists of the USSR.

He worked in the field of political posters, book illustrations.

Today works of M. A. Gordon - posters, magazine illustration, design works - are perceived by the audience as modern vibrant typical images of a bygone Soviet era.

The exhibition at the Museum of Printing features works by M. A. Gordon from the collection of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg and the artist’s family collection: posters of the Great Patriotic War, political posters, theater posters and billboards of the postwar period.
