Information technology and culture: Sketches of costumes and scenery from the collection of the Saint-Petersburg State Theatre Library are digitized

1 October 2013

Sketches of costumes and scenery from the collection of the Saint-Petersburg State Theatre Library acquired an electronic form. The “Electronic Archive” Corporation has completed the electronic processing of the array.

As part of the project it has been digitized more than ten thousand original sketches of costumes and scenery of the Sketch Foundation of the Saint-Petersburg State Theatre Library.

The works carried out on the scanner PlanScan C2-CA, accompanied by a color scale. Most of the sketches are made on tracing paper, and because the material has become very brittle over time, digitization was carried out with extreme caution. In addition, the drawings were often accompanied by non-standard items such as tissue samples for suits, which were also digitized on a planetary scanner.

The processed array is part of the collection of the Library, which is based on library-Up imperial theaters. It contains sketches of costumes, scenery, props and curtains.
