History and culture: History of the unfinished painting by Pavel Korin “Requiem. Disappearing Rus’” presented at the State Tretyakov Gallery

November 22, 2013 at the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) for the first time after a major restoration work for visitors is opened the entire body of portraits, etudes and sketches by the famous painting by Pavel Korin “Requiem. Disappearing Russia”, including the large-sized canvas for it.

A special project “Pavel Korin. “Requiem”. To the history of “Disappearing Russia” is dedicated to one of the largest and most mysterious artistic designs of the first half of the XX century, which remained unfinished - the film “Requiem. Disappearing Russia”. Throughout all the creative life of the artist Pavel Dmitrievich Korin (1892-1967) thought over the composition of a large canvas, painted portraits of the characters, not starting to work on a prepared canvas over the picture.
