Libraries and society: The round table “Public libraries of the 21 century: participation in the formation of legal culture of population” in Saint-Petersburg

The V. V. Mayakovski Central City Public Library (Saint-Petersburg) on November 21, 2013 holds the Inter-regional round table on the theme “Public libraries of the 21st century: participation in the formation of legal culture of population ”.

The round table welcomes representatives of public libraries, public authorities of St. Petersburg and other regions of the Russian Federation, government agencies and non-governmental organizations, legal information centers in different regions of Russia.

At the round table will be discussed:

- Actual problems of formation and improving the legal culture of the population.

- The place and role of public libraries in the legal informing and educating the population.

- Effective forms and methods of forming the legal culture of the population employed in the public libraries.

- The possibilities of public libraries in providing access to legal information, legal resources and services of the “electronic government”.

- Practical experience in public libraries to create a legal culture of the population.

- The use of modern information and communication technologies in the organization of legal education and improving the legal culture of citizens.

- Features of the work of public libraries to the legal education of vulnerable groups.

- Social partnership with the public library authorities, government and community organizations to build and enhance the legal awareness of the population.
