World culture: Exhibition “Spanish Art of the XIV – XX centuries from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum” in Veliky Novgorod

November 12, 2013 in the exhibition halls of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Novgorod Museum opened an exhibition “Spanish Art of the XIV - XX centuries from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum”. The exhibition includes 139 works by painters, masters of arts and crafts and gunsmiths of Spanish art from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum, which is one of the largest museum collections of the world.

The Hermitage collection of Spanish painting is the largest outside of Spain. It includes the works of the XV century, works of painters of the XVI century; the main part of the collection consists of paintings of artists of the XVII, “Golden Age” of Spanish art. The exhibition features twenty seven paintings, the creation of which is related to the end of XVI - early XX centuries.
