
For the 400th Anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty: "Romanovs and Novgorod Region" Historical-documentary Exhibition in Novgorod
"The Romanovs and Novgorod Region" historical-documentary exhibition opened on November 8, 2013, in the Archives Branch of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Novgorod Region.
The Novgorod Region State Archives with the participation of the Russian Cinema State Archive and Novgorod State Museum of Creative Culture of Novgorod Land prepared the exhibition.
The study of social, economic and political processes in Russia during the period of the XVII - XX centuries is impossible without studying the contribution of the House of Romanov members in the building and reformation of Russian statehood.
Romanov dynasty associated with the Novgorod Land as well. Existent versions of the Romanov dynasty origin link the first members of the genus with Novgorod, tracing Novgorod’s roots of the Romanov family. Throughout the XVII - XX centuries leading the country Russian Czars have been taking essential decisions regarding entire the Novgorod Land. Crowned personas, the members of the royal family and other representatives of the House of Romanovs were sponsoring Novgorod churches and monasteries, visiting Novgorod or going through Novgorod province’s territory down St. Petersburg-Moscow way, traveling over the country.
The exhibition addresses a wide range of users who are not indifferent to the history of Novgorod and Novgorod Land.
The exhibition also contains paintings by the artists from the Novgorod State Museum of Creative Culture of Novgorod Land, "House of the Romanovs" newsreel (1896-1918), offered for viewing by the Russian State Film and Photo Archive.
The exhibition will run until early December.
