Russian language: The Universal Illustrated Russian Language Dictionary Presented in St. Petersburg

The presentation of the Universal Illustrated Russian Language Dictionary was held on November 6, 2013, in the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg).

The dictionary gives a most complete interpretation of Russian vocabulary of ХIХ - early XXI centuries. This edition is a fundamentally new format of a reference book. Its main content is uniquely combined with reach illustrative material and containing information from different areas of knowledge encyclopedia.

Led by an author of the Large Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language, PhD in Language and Literature Studies Sergei Alexandrovich Kuznetsov panel of Russian scholars of authority have worked on this edition for 20 years.

There are over 130,000 words and phrases with detailed interpretations in the dictionary. It contains the vocabulary of all literary genres and stylistic trends of the Russian language. Most widely used in the past decades set expressions, phrases, clichés, neologies, sayings, idioms, terms, neologisms are given.

The dictionary is colorfully illustrated. It includes about 10,000 reproductions, drawings, photographs, maps, and charts. Each volume contains 360 pages with color pictures.

Polyphony of this edition makes it equally interesting and informative for both school student and an academician.
