
Russian language: The Russian language Council established under the Government of Russia
The Chairman of the Government of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has signed a Decree on the formation of the Council of the Russian language under the Government of the Russian Federation and approved the Regulations on the Council.
The Document is prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia in response to the request of the Government of the Russian Federation.
The Council is an advisory body which objectives are to review the key issues in state support and development of the Russian language and develop proposals to improve public policy in this area.
The main tasks of the Board:
- The assistance in the implementation of public policies aimed at promoting Russian language, its support and development;
- The participation in the development and review of concepts, programs and initiatives of citizens, public and other organizations in this field;
- The preparation of proposals for improving the activity of the executive authorities of the Russian Federation in this field, as well as for the public examination of federal laws and other normative legal acts on issues related to the competence of the Council.
The Chairman of the Council is the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
The composition of the Council is approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.
Organizational and technical support of the Council is implemented by the Ministry of Education of Russia.
The resolution is aimed at improving coordination of federal executive bodies, educational and community organizations, cultural organizations, the media in promoting the study and dissemination of the Russian language as an integral part of world culture and international communication tool.
