History and culture: Exhibition “New Year: Soviet theme” in Astrakhan

In the B. M. Kustodiev House-Museum (Astrakhan) till January 19, 2013 runs the exhibition "New Year: Soviet theme", all the exhibits of which are provided by Astrakhan collectors and gatherers.

The tradition of celebrating the New Year in our country has a complicated history. It is connected with the change of government and change of the calendar, with brittle established folk performances and the formation of new ideologies. 

Exhibition "New Year: Soviet theme" tells how the country was celebrating the New Year, what gifts were given to children and adults. The exhibition presents the award things preserved in private collections of Astrakhan residents - thanks, letters, memorabilia pennants and prizes, as well as Christmas decorations, labels, chocolate wrappers, photos of 50-80s of the XX century, rare items. The exhibition will be a kind of "traveling in a time machine".
