The Presidential Library: New acquisitions

The Presidential Library holdings have been enriched with video materials of the joint production of the Presidential library and the Children’s Multimedia Studio “M-Art” of the Center for Creative Development and Humanitarian Education “On Vasilievsky”. 

The Children's Multimedia Studio “M –Art” opened on September 1, 2008 in the Department of Technology of the St. Petersburg City Palace of Youth Creativity. In 2010, the studio moved to St. Petersburg GBOU DOD Center for Creative Development and Human Development “On Vasilievsky”. One of the main directions of the studio is animation and media design.

The studio was invited and it participated in 8 international and Russian conferences, in 11 international film festivals. It was a participant and organizer for more than 10 projects.

The presented video films are dedicated to the history of the language and educational games.

The film Idioms tells the story of the origin of the alphabet and writing (Phoenician, Greek, Roman and Cyrillic). A particular attention is paid to disclosure of the significance and history of such idioms as “at the end of one's rope”, “to idle”, “to mark it well”, “to be left high and dry”, “to do one’s bit” and others.

The educational traditions and principles of the Imperial House of Romanov family are depicted in the film Historical lotto. The video tells the history of desktop home games enjoyed success with the children of the Romanov dynasty (solitaires, historic lotto, desktop theaters).
