Information technology and society: Documents of the State Archive of the Murmansk region digitized

The regular stage of works on creation and filling the single information resource about the content of documents of archival foundation of the Murmansk region is completed. The “Electronic Archive” Corporation has transferred to electronic form the funds, stored the State Archives of the region.

During the project it has been scanned and indexed 2000 inventories on recent political history and documents from the Soviet period. Documents per 100 000 personalities, containing the genealogical information from the "Collections of births parishes and churches of the Alexander County Arkhangelsk diocese" are also digitized. A created electronic resource was loaded into an automated information system of the archive fund of the Murmansk region.

Provided works will allow the institution to reduce the deadlines of citizens and organizations, to ensure the preservation of archival documents. In addition, it would be possible a remote access to information about the content of documents and archival resources of the region ordering documents or electronic copies of the fund use.

In 2011 the “Electronic Archive” Corporation has implemented an integrated automated information system for archives collections of the Murmansk region, ensuring the provision of archival services through a single portal of public services and industry web portal.
