The presentation of the results of the restoration of objects from the collection of the Pokrovsky Cathedral took place at the State Historical Museum in Moscow on December 10, 2013.

The event presented results of restoration of the interior decoration of the monument.

It was restored a metal sided banner "St. Basil. Nativity of the Mother of God" - independent in St. Basil's Cathedral. It is made to the 350th anniversary of the foundation of the temple, celebrated in 1905 in the neo-Russian style richly ornamented with colored enamel inserts, gilded metal thin study. During restoration the banner was completely dismantled, were corrected deformed parts, restored gilding on metal and the original color of enamel lining, reinforced by layers of painting on iconic images.

The icon "Image of Edessa", until recently was located in the exposition of the museum. The iconography has a difficult fate. At the end of the XVII century an expressive image was painted on top of another image without the required surface preparation. The condition of the painting surface was estimated by experts as an emergency. A painstaking work on the icon lasted more than one month, and as a result was able to save one of the most interesting works in the collection of the Pokrovsky Cathedral.

Since 1997, in the Church of St. Basil's Cathedral of the Pokrovsky Cathedral every Sunday are held public worship. However Royal Doors of the iconostasis had incomplete form after cessation of worship (1929) with them disappeared five icons. Only now it became possible to rake a decision on the restoration of full artistic appearance of the King's Gate Church. August 15, at the patronal festival, the first time since the 1920s the festive worship was held in a church canon reconstituted by the Holy Doors of the iconostasis.
