Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibition, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Isayevich Solzhenitsyn, in Moscow
December 10, 2013 at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow) is opening the exhibition “Alexander Solzhenitsyn: from the lumps”: Manuscripts, documents, photographs”. The exhibition is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Solzhenitsyn (1918-2008), one of the key figures of the Russian history and culture of the XX century.
The exhibition “Alexander Solzhenitsyn: from the lumps” is a kind of “Biography in manuscripts”. The sight of the manuscripts, circumstances in which they were created, make them monuments to a difficult century of Russia and the feat to his chronicler.
The exhibition in our country first presents original manuscripts of famous works of writers, getting the world recognition: “the Gulag Archipelago”, “The First Circle”, “Cancer Ward”, “The Red Wheel”, as well as original documents of various periods of his life, memorabilia, regalia of Nobel laureate, autographs of D. D. Shostakovich, A. A. Akhmatova, A. T. Tvardovsky, K. I. Chukovsky.
The exhibition features 98 exhibits.
