Society and media: International news agency “Russia today” being created

The International news agency "Russia Today" is created on the basis of RIA Novosti, it will be headed by Dmitry Kiselev, says the press service of the Kremlin.

According to the decree of the President, the agency "Russia Today", which will be located in the same building as the RIA Novosti, will also include the Russian State Broadcasting Company "Voice of Russia".

Vladimir Putin also instructed the Cabinet within a month to conduct activities necessary to create a new agency, and elaborate on the inclusion of FSUE "International news agency "Russia Today" in the list of strategic enterprises.

"The main focus of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise" International News Agency "Russia Today" is the lighting abroad of State policy and public life in the Russian Federation", - stated in the decree of the President of Russia.

By the same decree the President abolished the State Fund of television and radio, passing it RTR and Federal State Institution of Science "Russian Book Chamber" - ITAR-TASS. In addition, Vladimir Putin reorganized "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", attached to the Editorial "Homeland". The decree came into force upon signature.
