Information technology and culture: Round table “Modern information space and culture: information technology at the museum” in Saint-Petersburg

December 4, 2013 at the State Russian Museum as part of the II Saint-Petersburg International Cultural Forum is held the round table in the format of video-conferencing “Modern information space and culture: information technology at the museum”. 

The development of the society is impossible without using computer technology. The leader in our country in this direction is the State Russian Museum, which for more than a decade actively adapts them to the museum specifics. This year the project celebrates 10 years “The Russian museum: the Virtual Branch” fully supported by computer technology.

"The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" is a large-scale project of the Russian Museum, which embodies the idea of ​​national art treasures availability – the State Russian Museum. The project aims to create a single cultural and information space in Russia and abroad.

To discuss the role of information technology in the museum environment, prospects, innovation – is the main goal of the round table between the Russian Museum and the virtual branches.

The live broadcast of the Round table will be at the web site of the non-profit partnership “The Virtual Russian Museum”.

The discussions of important issues and prospects for the use of computer technology in education, training and various forms of museum activities will be attended by the heads of information and educational centers of the regions of Russia, where such centers are open.

According to the round table, it will be adopted resolution of its members. The State Russian Museum initiates the establishment of the Association of Russian Museum virtual branches and resource centers of the Russian Center of museum pedagogy. The purpose of the Association is the system cooperation on the joint humanitarian projects, attracting faculty and students to develop information, training, education and game programs, the creation and development of distance education in the humanitarian sphere.
