World culture: Works from the collections of the Museum of Avant-Garde Art presented in Moscow

December 3, 2013 at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow) opens an exhibition of works from the collection of the Museum of Avant-Garde Art "My Homeland - in my soul…".

For the first time in Russia under the XXXIII International Music Festival "December Nights of Sviatoslav Richter" in the Pushkin State Museum are presented works of Russian and Western European art from the late XIX - XX century from the collection of the Museum of Avant-Garde Art (MAGMA).

The exhibition consists of several parts, each of which is devoted to a particular period in the history of art. A part of the exposition brings together two sections – the art abroad of the XIX - XX centuries and the first third of the XX century. It includes works by masters of Russian Silver Age and the School of Paris.

The section "Art of the second half of the XX - beginning of XXI century" makes available to viewers pictures of an entire galaxy of nonconformist artists, those creative formation dip coincided with the period of the "thaw" the beginning of the 1960s.

The Western European art of the second half of the XX century is represented by the works of the greatest masters - Mark Rothko and Lucian Freud.

Totally, the exhibition will show 100 works, allowing getting a fresh look at the work of artists who, through their talent and national traditions have had a tremendous impact on the world artistic process.
